QVAS was founded in 1971 by Gary Dunn, a Lyman Hall High School student, with his teacher Wilford Schultz.  We are a chapter of the National Audubon Society.  Support comes from National Audubon Society and donations made by individuals, corporations and foundations.  It is recognized by the Connecticut State and Federal government as 501(c) (3) not-for-profit, charitable organization.  

QVAS serves the towns of Bethany, Berlin, Cheshire, Hamden, Meriden, Northford, North Haven, Prospect, Southington,  Wallingford, Waterbury, and Wolcott.

The Mission of the Quinnipiac Valley Audubon Society is to motivate our community to engage in conversation, restoration and enjoyment of nature focusing on birds, other wildlife and their habitats.

It is with great sadness to announce the loss of a long time board member, Marty Moore, who passed away December 17th, 2020.  Marty was very active with QVAS for 20 years.  He lead many bird walks, conducted bird breeding surveys at Riverbound, attended board meetings where he offered his vast knowledge, and actively advocated our presence.  You can read more about him below.
