Sketching at Riverbound Farm Sanctuary
Quinnipiac Valley Audubon Society loves to be involved in the local art community! This year QVAS held two poetry readings, as well as two sketching meet ups.
On Sunday, July 21, QVAS welcomed the New Haven Sketchers group to an afternoon of outdoor drawing, sketching and painting. The group took advantage of the beautiful grounds and used the gardens, river, and trails as inspiration for art completed that afternoon on site, followed by a friendly show and tell critique.
QVAS volunteer Katie Larocca resumed her series of workshops Drawing from Taxidermy Specimens on September 15th, which was a popular class held once a year before the pandemic. QVAS holds a small but scientific collection of local taxidermized fauna, skulls, bird's nests and eggs, as well as other curiosities. Artists come to sketch and create art based on this natural collection of wonders.
